8 Months old

Today you are 8 months old. You are a big boy now. You can go anywhere your little feet desire. You can crawl amazingly well. It had a rough start but it was fun to watch you learn.
When you began to “scoot around” was immediatly after you learned to sit up well on your own. Once you mastered sitting up all by yourself you started to spin around to face in different directions. Before i knew it you were scooting yourself backwards everywhere! sometimes you would get frustrated because you would back yourself up so far that you would get stuck on a wall, the couch, or other furniture. Since you couldn’t yet crawl foward we had to come pull you out from wherever you were. This didnt last long… Oh no!

Once you mastered crawling backwards you started to do this stance on all fours as if you were an acrobat. One leg would fly in the air and you would be standing on 3 limbs with your little leg flailing about. It was the cutest and funniest thing to watch. Shortly after you discovered you had control of your leg movement, you began to inch your way forward. You are a great crawler now!!
Now that you can get anywhere, you started to pull yourself up onto things; the couch, your playpen/crib, the window, end tables. You are so proud of yourself and we are so excited that you are learning so much!

When you watch tv you always stand in your playpen to get “the best view” . Most of the toys in the play pen get ignored now that you can explore climbing up on the sides of the big box we put you in. Also you dont like being in there much if the tv is not on, you’d much rather crawl around on the floor. i don’t blame my little explorer, nobody likes being stuck in a tiny space. We are investing in a larger play yard soon, my dear.
We have graduated from baby foods now you are eating mashed up or whole vegetables. Your diet inclueds sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, peas, carrots, applesauce, oatmeal cereal, bananas and on pizza night you always get some of our breaksticks. You also like to munch on french fries, or whatever else is baby-safe that might be on our plate.
You have a fascination with non-toy items. empty water bottles, remote controls,cd’s, playing cards are among your favorite play things.

You like to get into everything, clothes, bookshelves, your diaper bag, junk mail, newspapers… the list goes on. The worst part is we haven’t officially baby-proofed so my job is a little harder, catching you before you get to the loose cords behind the tv or the stairs. or the garbage can. My day is occupied by making sure you stay in the “crawl zone” without running into danger. I want to let you explore but i feel bad having to pull you away from all your discoveries. Its for your own good though, i promise!
As far as everything else goes , our family is moving in a new and exciting direction and we are blessed daily. Our lives our so full of joy.The weather may have been a little gloomy recently, but you make it a little bit brighter. We love you baby boy and are so excited to see what your 9 month milestone will bring us!!!
